Energy Systems Infrastructure: A place-based case study

Project Summary

We know that transitioning energy systems to higher efficiency and to renewable sources is contested in the policy arena. What we know less about is how people whose neighborhoods’ energy systems are being transitioned understand and want from the infrastructure that maintains their daily electrified lives. This project aims to explore this reality by working with community leaders, students, residents, and workers in Flatbush, Brooklyn, to co-produce knowledge about the experience of living in a neighborhood undergoing the energy transition.

This project employs a participatory approach to collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and communicating data. We will use surveys, interviews, participatory observation, and workshops to collect data and prioritize communication formats.
