CECE Collaborating Researcher

Founder & Executive Director, Central and South East Brooklyn Community Development Corporation (CxSE BK)
Rona Taylor founded CXSE BK and serves as Executive Director, guiding the organization’s vision to build a healthier future for all Brooklynites— by leading their holistic programs, partnerships and advocacy. Under Rona Taylor’s leadership, CxSE BK works alongside residents and community partners to strengthen Central and Southeast Brooklyn through environmental justice, public health, and neighborhood resilience.

Throughout her career, Rona has been guided by a deep commitment to the connections between health, environment and equity—and to helping communities not only overcome challenges, but thrive. Her experience spans public service, social work and the arts, along with health equity and justice work in HIV/AIDS, harm reduction, reproductive health and social-emotional learning.

At CxSE BK, Rona advances a holistic approach to community well-being that brings together climate and environmental justice, food security, physical, mental, and maternal health, and emergency preparedness. Her work centers on practical, community-based solutions that give residents the knowledge, resources and support to prepare for environmental, economic and public-health challenges.

Taylor’s philosophy is informed by Black environmental thought, including the idea of stewardship as a collective responsibility, and by ecofeminist traditions that extend an ethic of care from individuals and families to communities and the natural world.
