Mariana Koutsopoulos

Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Environmental Science

Mariana T. Koutsopoulos is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Environmental Science at American University. Her work integrates modeling approaches to study food waste and rescue, food policy, and food–energy–environment systems with emphasis on public health, sustainability, and resilience. She earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences from the University at Albany, where her community-engaged research on food rescue policies was supported by the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) Tipping Points Grant Program and the NSF-funded Multiscale RECIPES project (Award #2115405). Mariana co-led the Student & Postdoctoral Cluster of the RECIPES network and received the 2022 Barry Richmond Scholarship Award.
