Andressa Monteiro Venturini

Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Science

Andressa Venturini is a soil microbial ecologist and an assistant professor at American University. Using molecular and bioinformatics methods, her research focuses on understanding how anthropogenic pressures impact soil microbial communities and their ecosystem services. Her work is especially focused on tropical environments — particularly the Amazon — and on the consequences of land-use change, but she is interested in a broad range of soil-related questions and environments. Her research explores: (1) microbial roles in greenhouse gas cycling; (2) the interplay between soil and human health; and (3) microbial potential for microplastic degradation.
